It all started with 'The Hungry Alligator' in 1986 - a book I wrote and illustrated for the benefit of my peers in Kindergarten Gold. Inspired by our own culinary habits at the time, my alligator protagonist desperately wanted to eat the school's supply of sweet, sweet Clag Glue.

I continued spinning yarns until people relented and made me Features Editor at UNSW's Tharunka Magazine, published my experimental poetry in the UNSWeetened literary journal, and enlisted me as Youth Columnist for The North Shore Times.

I majored in English at UNSW, specialising in creative and professional writing. I've since trained in screenwriting at UTS and The Second City in Chicago. Throughout the work life that followed, I've been perpetrator and accomplice in all manner of storytelling.

I was Web Editor for Woman's Day until company-wide redundancies "forced" me to run away to the Edinburgh Fringe to perform sketch comedy. On my return home from the circus, I went freelance as a writer/editor in publishing, and a writer/producer for theatre.

As a sub-editor, I made writing 'more betterer' for: Woman's Day, Gourmet Traveller, ELLE, Yours, Good Health, Mother & Baby, COSMOS, Grazia, NW, OK!, Foxtel, Google's Careers With Code, RiAus' Ultimate Science Guide and Postgraduate Survival Guide, The Curious Country for the Chief Scientist, and university alumni magazines. I wrote for Woman's Day, YourTV, The Fix, TV.com, the3rdimagazine, Tech Digest, and Ultimate Science Guide.

After years in magazines, I was craving a new challenge, so I joined the Group Communications team at Commonwealth Bank... to work on a magazine. The role soon evolved to include most kinds of digital content production - video, audio, and graphic design, via internal and external comms channels.

With some corporate cred up my sleeve, I then marched into Amazon Australia and demanded (read: begged, tap danced a bit, juggled swords until...) they let me in. With insufferable pride, I became the ANZ Alexa Experience Writer and Editor (albeit temporarily for maternity cover). I wrote songs, stories, jokes, greetings, and other fun personality-driven responses for the friendly virtual assistant, all with a mission to surprise and delight customers. Real talk: it was a dream gig.

Meanwhile, as a theatre producer, I have seen live shows through from concept to script to stage to tour. A major part of my success in this arena is marketing and copywriting, all of which I've done myself. I learnt how to market a show with my own money, reputation and beloved product on the line. My success or failure as a copywriter has always had very real and personal consequences, which made for a rapid learning curve.

My solo cabaret, LadyNerd, won a 2011 Sydney Fringe Award For Excellence, and has played 52 times in six cities (including Adelaide Cabaret Festival and Edinburgh Fringe in 2012, and sold-out shows at Perth Fringe World 2014-15) to rave reviews. I produced and appeared in sold-out seasons of There's No One New Around You: A Tinder Musical, which I also co-wrote. And I created variety show/podcast, Slapdash Song Night!, nominated for Best Cabaret at Fringe World 2015.

In 2017, I followed a grand superhero tradition and produced a sequel to LadyNerd. Debuting in Perth at Fringe World, LadyNerd 2: Game of Nerds was also nominated for a Best Cabaret Award. It featured all original songs by me, and was a game for the audience (because putting on a show isn't hard enough, apparently!).
